So, you're leaving secondary school. Now what do you do?
School Leaver Employment Support (SLES) offers individualised support for up to 2 years for young people aged 18-22 after they have finished secondary school to help you get ready for work and plan your pathway into employment.
Employment isn't just about working and earning money. Employment provides independence, a sense of purpose, social connections and personal development. SLES provides individuals with the opportunity to enter the workforce in a supported environment to ensure they develop the skills and confidence to retain and enjoy their job!
What does a week of SLES look like?
- One day of work experience
- One day of training
- Individualised one-to-one employment support
What criteria do I need to meet to be eligible?
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Have an NDIS Plan and organise for SLES to be funded in it
- Motivated to gain employment
A Golden Opportunity for our SLES Participants!
McCallum has partnered with the Golden Nugget Bakery to provide a supported working environment for people with disability. The Golden Opportunity is a mobile food trailer offering delicious coffee, hot food and sweet treats for people on the go.
SLES Participants working in the trailer will have:
- A dedicated support worker with them at all times
- Training such as money handling, customer service, food handling, barista training and much, much more.
