Safety Manager | Ballarat
We are pleased to accept applications from suitably qualified people for the role of Safety Manager at McCallum.
Located at Head Office in Alfredton, our Safety Manager's core purpose is to grow a strong health and safety culture throughout our organisation. Responsible for the oversight of our OHS systems our Safety Manager will collaborate with, coach, educate and monitor our safe systems of work across our diverse business.
Key responsibilities include:
- Review, update and implement OHS Policy and Procedures.
- Transition the business to new risk/safety software and establish KPI dashboard reporting.
- Enhance risk awareness and capabilities with key stakeholders through targeted training and supports, partnering to create departmental OHS Action Plans.
- Develop and implement a framework to manage psychosocial risks.
- Chair and coordinate our OHS and Emergency Planning Committees.
Our new Safety Manager will:
- Hold a tertiary qualification in OHS or related field (minimum Cert IV) or equivalent experience
- Have demonstrated experience working in a Senior Safety Leadership / Advisory role.
- We are a diverse business with respect to safety risks. Our ideal candidate will either have a background in Human Services/Health OR from a manufacturing / production environment.
- Be an effective communicator with proficient IT skills with the ability to prepare reports, develop and deliver presentations/training, analyse data and produce dashboard reporting.
- We would love it if you have worked in an ISO45001 accredited system and bonus points if you've also had experience in food packaging or production environments.

With a portfolio of our homes under your leadership, you will be responsible for the oversight and management of operations in SIL and SDA Programs across Ballarat.

McCallum invites students studying their Certificate IV Disability Support or Community Services to contact us regarding hosting your student placement.
We are able to host a limited number of people to ensure our supports continue to be delivered in a COVIDsafe way. Placements are available in our Accommodation, Community Connections and Industries settings.
All people undertaking placement must hold an NDIS Worker Screening Check. You must also have received your third booster vaccination for COVID-19 and provide evidence of this.

As at 1 February 2021, all employees joining McCallum need to hold an NDIS Worker Screening check.
Victoria has a ‘no check, no start’ policy in place so we require all applicants who are applying for direct support roles at McCallum to hold a NDIS Worker Screening Check before they start work with us. If you do not have a check and you are the successful applicant you will need to apply for a check on the Service Victoria website. The check can take up to 3 weeks to process and will be valid for 5 years.
McCallum collects personal information during the recruitment application process which includes:
- Information from your resume or application form – including your name, address, contact details (such as phone numbers and email addresses), skills and other employment history details;
- Academic transcripts or qualifications;
- Referee details as provided;
- Information collected during the interview process;
- Other miscellaneous information that is disclosed by you;
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (NDIS Clearance status), which includes criminal records.
